History |
The Symbiosis International University was established by the Symbiosis Society on the principles of Vedic thought of "World as One Family" that attracts students from more than 70 countries who find a home away from home. The University received a status as deemed to be a University in the year 2002, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, by the Central Government under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.

Research |
The University offers Ph.D. programme in its seven faculties ie. Law, Management, Computer Studies, Health Sciences, Media, Communication & Design, Humanities & Social Sciences and Engineering.
11 research institutions have been recognized by the Symbiosis International University for research. These include institutions of national importance like the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Co-operative Management, Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, Bengaluru. Chest Research Foundation , Apte Research Foundation, Centaur Research Centre , Serum Institute of India, Research Foundation , National Aids Research Institute , Center for Rheumatic Diseases , Medical Research Centre-Kasturba Health Society , Galaxy CARE Laparoscopy Institute, Pune , Larsen & Toubro Management Development Centre, Lonavala .
