Dr. Jyoti Chandiramani has more than 26 years of experience, teaching a wide range of subjects such as Microeconomics, Managerial Economics, Macroeconomics, International Economics, Indian Banking System and Monetary Economics at the Undergraduate and Post Graduate level. She has completed her Ph.D. from Pune University, on "Foreign Direct Investment & Corporate Response: An Empirical Study With Reference

Overview

It is indeed a smart choice, to take up B.Sc Economics at Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE). Your entry to SSE, at this very youthful stage, will prepare and equip you with analytical and critical thinking skills, creating a rational being, with an understanding of the need for constrained optimization, and a strong urge to strive towards achieving equilibrium. The course content at SSE is rigorous; it will connect the students with every aspect of economic life - right from the grass root level of economics to the micro, macro and global environment and will churn out students who will be capable of including innovations and pragmatism into problem solving in these very spheres. The study of Economics will assist and guide the students to understand and resolve the several conflicting macroeconomic goals. Over the time frame at SSE, the students would evolve with fine communication skills, be it making presentations or writing good quality essays and will also imbibe a good flair for quantitative analysis. Our education, workshops and training programmes include this very philosophy.

At SSE, we have vibrant future plans which include introducing the Masters Course (M.Sc Economics) in the academic year – 2011, offering specialization in International Trade and Development Studies, to begin with. It is going to be a long journey of academic pursuits, which will be ever evolving including different perspectives from varied stakeholders, making our courses increasingly relevant and pertinent.

The Symbiosis School of Economics seeks to develop intellectual discipline and valuable skill sets required for rational thinking and optimal decision making. The approach is descriptive and analytical and many issues of national and international policy are considered. Economics at SSE is regarded and taught as a part of liberal education and provides an especially relevant background for several professions. The course has been designed with an inclination towards - Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Law, Environment and Politics. As a result, it provides a strong foundation in Economic theory and practice. With its interdisciplinary flavour it prepares students for post graduation courses in Law, Journalism, Business and Economics and provide them with career opportunities in various industries, financial institutions, media & communication, government, research and academia. The environment here is disciplined & rigorous, at the same time giving plenty of scope for creativity, originality and student initiatives.
